Welcome to The Friends of the Yampa – Steamboat Springs, Colorado

The Friends of the Yampa is a river advocacy group based on one common passion, a love for the Yampa River.

We have a long standing history of working for the river by organizing river clean ups, holding discussions about the rivers important and rare attributes, funding and helping build river features/habitats as well as participating in a variety of local, regional and national policy efforts and campaigns.

The Fiends of the Yampa’s (FOY) mission is to protect and enhance the river’s environmental and recreational integrity through stewardship, advocacy, education and partnerships.

How to Join? You can join our cause and become a member for just $10, which includes annual membership, discounts to local businesses, free entry to future Yampa River Festival and more. Email Pete at Backdoor Sports about membership.

News from the Fundraiser Front: Every year in November we host our annual Big Snow Dance fundraiser at the Sweetwater Grill.  For 2011, this event will be November 19th, Saturday.

We hope you can make it out for the family themed shakedown featuring Ragweed and the Old Town Pickers.  Included in your $20 entry will be dinner, dancing, kids activities and our silent/live auction.  A special prize will be presented to guest wearing Best Retro Ski Costume.   But, there is no dress theme, just come ready to celebrate the onset of the ski season with a Big Snow Dance. Doors open at 5:30pm and party will go till close.
