Our annual fundraiser, the Big Snow Dance, will be held at 7pm on November 23rd at Carl’s Tavern in downtown Steamboat Springs. We will have live entertainment from Highland View, and a silent auction full of fantastic goods and services. This year, Carl’s is generously donating 10% of all sales from 7pm until close to Friends of the Yampa. That means we need YOU to come eat, drink, and be merry! Let’s kick off ski season right by celebrating the fantastic river that we have all enjoyed over the last several months.
All funds raised during the Big Snow Dance will help fund river restoration and improvements outlined in the Yampa River Management Plan and the Yampa River Structural Master Plan. The Yampa River is one of Northwest Colorado’s most important environmental and recreational resources. Tourism to the Valley is an important economic generator and the river is a central part to this economy and the lifestyle that makes Steamboat Springs and Northwest Colorado so special. As more and more people venture in and along the river, it cannot support itself and needs groups like the Friends of the Yampa to maintain both its ecological integrity and recreational resources. As our Board of Directors is composed entirely of volunteers, all proceeds from The Big Snow Dance will go directly to river based work and not to salaries or any overhead.
Please join us on November 23rd to support the Friends of the Yampa and the work we are doing. If you have a silent auction item that you would like to donate, please contact us through the donation form and we will arrange to pick up your donation prior to the event. Click HERE to donate.
And finally, if you can’t make it to the event, but would like to donate to the cause, you can click HERE to give an online donation to Friends of the Yampa. Thank you for your support!
