The Yampa River Project - a glimpse of the lower Yampa River through Yampa Canyon, Dinosaur National Monument.

Considered to be the last major tributary to the Colorado River system that is considered wild and free-flowing, the Yampa River is truly a relic of the past. With the recent proposal by the Northern Colorado Water Conservancy District to build a 3-5 billion dollar diversion and 250-mile pipeline from the lower Yampa River below Maybell, Colorado, in hopes to deliver this water to the Front Range of Colorado for it's municipal growth, this proposal has many people searching for alternatives to such a last-resort proposal.

During the second week of June 2007, a group of advocates, scientists and river experts floated the Yampa Canyon to document, film and discuss the important, critical elements and attributes that the Yampa River provides to the Colorado River system. The outcome of the float will be a 15-min teaser video that will be utilized to develop a more detailed 90-min documentary of the Colorado's last free-flowing river.
